There are few things on this planet that are more heartwarming than those videos showing a family reunite after months, and sometimes years, of being apart.
The exhilaration on everyone's faces, the anticipation, the pure emotions — there are many reasons why so many people are drawn to these videos. Maybe it's because we've all been there before, so we can all relate to that feeling. Maybe not months and months of being apart like the brave men and women of our military have to go through, but sometimes even a few days of being being separated from our loved ones can feel like a near eternity!
But recently we've been seeing a lot of military men and women perform the "surprise welcome home," in which the family thinks they're not going to see their husband, wife, mother, father, brother, sister, or parents for quite some time. But instead, they get the surprise of a lifetime when their favorite person in the world peeks out from a corner and runs in for that amazing hug!
In the video below you can watch a perfect example of one such "surprise welcome home" videos. The military mom is returning from Afghanistan, and she just can't hold back the tears of happiness. As she sneaks up behind her 6-year-old son, who thinks he's just having a normal day, we just love the look of confusion, surprise, and then finally utter happiness when he sees his mom!
"I thought I was picking her up from the airport on Monday, but she tricked me!" he said after the commotion had died down.
