In her new memoir, Tell Me Everything, Minka Kelly did some deep digging into the traumatic parts of her past and gave them a space to exist out loud on her pages. A big portion of her story talks about growing up with a single mom who was an exotic dancer. But she also talks about her relationship with her dad, who, initially, was not a major part of her life.
Minka's dad, Rick Dufay, was a guitarist for Aerosmith when Maureen, Minka's mother, got pregnant. Rick was preparing to go on tour, and being a full-time father wasn't in his foreseeable future.
When Minka made enough money to move to Los Angeles, she was able to reconnect with her dad. This came years after her traumatic upbringing with her mom and a toxic relationship that led to a sex tape and an abortion.

She moved in with Rick for a brief time, and he helped her get back on her feet before finding her own place.
"I used to be really angry at him for not being there for my younger years, but I think that everything happens as it's supposed to," she shared.
Minka talks about how her dad has helped her through a lot, especially when it came to dealing with the death of her mother from cancer.
"Another huge area of my life that I don't know what I would've done without him," she said.
