Fancy was rescued from a kill auction. Destined to be slaughtered for food, Fancy was scared, anxiety-ridden, and completely worn down. She was also pregnant, and very close to giving birth.
Enter the incredible heroes at Crossfire Equine Rescue in Texas. Dedicated to rehabbing and finding loving homes for horses in need, Annie Shurtleff and her staff swooped in to rescue Fancy just in time. Her new life had finally begun.
Back on the Crossfire property, the staff went so far as to sleep in the barn with the terrified horse, just to help her get through the initial sleepless nights. With patience, training and a whole lot of pampering, Fancy began to reveal her sweet, loving nature. They could tell she was going to make an amazing mom, and soon!
Then, it was time. Naturally, and with no complications whatsoever, Fancy foaled a healthy, gorgeous Palomino filly. Just wait until you see her adorable baby, and the way these two interact!
Lucky for us, Fancy's saviors had the camera ready to capture those precious first steps, and the immediate bond between mother and child.
