Williamsburg, Kentucky Toddler Leads Police To Fugitive Hiding In Home: ‘We Shouldn’t Lie’

Kids say the darndest things as they have yet to learn to filter themselves. They can be brutally honest, even when it is not exactly wanted. This was the case for one family in Kentucky.

Officers from the Whitley County Sheriff Department showed up at a home on Friday, February 24, 2023, in Williamsburg looking for a suspect. Tina Hicks, 45, had multiple outstanding warrants out against her. Officers asked if she was at the home, but the adults did not want to say. That is when one honest and brave toddler told them the truth. Hicks was hiding next to the bathroom.

This tiny human has a strong sense of right and wrong. He put his little hands on his hips and proudly declared, “It is good to be honest. We shouldn't lie. She is inside the room next to the bathroom!”

He was also right. Officers searched the room next to the bathroom and found Hicks hiding there. She was taken into custody and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine in addition to her other outstanding warrants.

The toddler who told the truth did not live at the home he was visiting. Officers told concerned parties he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. They are incredibly thankful for his adorable assistance.

They do not believe any harm will come to him because of his actions. "The child involved was visiting family. He was healthy, intelligent, and in no way appeared to be abused. He was just at the wrong place wrong time. If deputies thought he was a potential victim of repercussions, it would have been dealt with," the sheriff's office stated.

Officers believe this toddler is “very brave and honest.” They wish more grown-ups were like him. Honesty is the best policy, after all.
