There aren't many better people out there than the much-loved and admired Tom Hanks. Of course, now that he's the actor who got to play Mr. Rogers, his nice factor somehow seems to have gone up a few notches (like that were really possible). Either way, we'll never complain too much about Tom, or about Tom doing nice things for humanity. Take, for example, his recent act of kindness for all the internet to enjoy — reading nice tweets.
In a recent, now viral, video, Tom reads from a list of "nice tweets," as opposed to celebrities reading mean tweets about themselves — made popular by Jimmy Kimmel. While the mean tweet reading is pretty hilarious, the nice tweets is good in a totally different way. It's sweet and satisfying at the same time. Basically, we love it a lot, and everyone should get to enjoy it.
Hearing about random acts of kindness is always pretty amazing. In case you missed it, here are some on Tom's list.
Tom obviously loves good deeds. Perhaps that's why he decided to read "nice tweets" instead of mean ones? It's a refreshing change from all the negativity on the internet. All of these nice tweets are pretty different, but they are beautiful in their own ways.
The first tweet on Tom's list is about fast-food restaurant McDonald's. “I worked at McDonald’s for two and a half years and I put 11 nuggets in almost every 10-piece I made,” it read. It may seem simple, but perhaps random acts of kindness are just about doing small things to brighten someone's day. I mean, who wouldn't want that extra nugget?
Another tweet is about someone's train ride. "A guy sitting next to me on the train was watching The Office, so naturally I not so subtly watched along. He noticed me watching with him and turned on subtitles. I hope he knows I would die for him TBH."

The next one was kind of a tearjerker — even Tom himself almost started crying. Well, kind of. But he was definitely moved by this tweet, because it showed some strong family ties and some beautiful father-daughter support.
In the tweet, a young woman wrote that her boyfriend had broken up with her. When she came home, she found a personalized cake that read, "You're still my #1! Love, Dad." Tom couldn't help but comment on how sweet that was.
“I’m gonna start crying again, because that's absolutely beautiful,” Tom said. “By the way, whoever broke up with you is a dope.” His kind comments make the tweets he reads just a little bit better, even though they are already pretty good on their own.
The acts of kindness go on and on. There are tweets about old ladies, and animals, and more. But it probably wouldn't really matter what the random acts of kindness or "nice" tweets were. The truth is, people just love to hear about people going out of their way to do something nice for someone else.
Tom even gave some advice to one tweet writer. She wrote that a classmate bought her lunch after she told him she always skipped lunch due to her class schedule. She asked, "is he in love with me yes or no." Tom wasn't so sure, but he did suggest she go to coffee with the guy if he asked.
It didn't hurt that Tom read the nice tweets on the holiday that is all about gratitude: Thanksgiving. It was such a beautiful gift to us internet users. It's hard not to listen to these kind acts and feel thankful for the good things that people are doing, whether big or small.
We aren't sure whose idea this was, but we're super thankful that Tom took time out of promoting It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood to read some nice tweets from Twitter users. Well, perhaps it's pretty good promo, but who really cares? The video is pretty much the best thing on the internet right now.
