Couples expecting a new baby in their family are always anxious to meet the little bundle of joy. Those nine months of waiting can feel like an eternity, especially for the mom who's dealing with a kiddo taking up all the room inside her belly. But that time is a blessing when it comes to preparing for the arrival. Everything from decorating the nursery to narrowing down a name both Mom and Dad can agree on take plenty of time, and definitely shouldn't be rushed.
Most parents also like to work out a very specific birth plan for the big day. Of course, many tykes like to play by their own rules when they arrive too early, too late, or in any of the other seemingly endless surprises that can pop up in all of the excitement.
For comedy writer, performer, and director Beth Newell, that meant waiting a few extra days to greet her daughter and suddenly finding herself in the market for a new car.
Beth Newell and husband Peter McNerney, who is also a writer and performer in the comedy world, live in New York with their son.
On May 1, 2016, Newell tweeted this photo with the caption, "Earlier today I gave birth to my daughter in the back of a Honda Fit." Presumably, she was on her way to the hospital when the sweet girl decided she was tired of waiting!
Directing the tweet to Honda, Newell continues to say, "It is a mess. Can I have a free car?"
She soon found herself with a flood of replies from friends and strangers supporting her vehicular request.
Some gave helpful recommendations as to which model the company might offer her.
Others reached out to different automobile companies on her behalf, asking them to step up if Honda doesn't.
There were also those who focused on the hygiene of the present car.
Luckily, Honda heard Newell's pleas and not only gave them a loaner car while her car received a good scrub down, but sent an adorable onesie for her daughter to rock.
