Couple Listened To Doctor’s Orders & Left Hospital Only To Have Unplanned Bathtub Birth

LeeAnn was not planning on having a home birth. But when her husband Leo snapped a photo of their son just seconds after he was born, everyone he sent it to couldn't help but notice the bottles of shampoo and body wash on the bathtub behind him; the photo was taken in their bathroom at their home in Virginia.

LeeAnn and Leo told WTKR that they went to the hospital when LeeAnn was in labor, at around 8:30 p.m.

Four hours later, they were reportedly sent home and told to come back when her contractions were so severe that she couldn't walk or talk through them.

LeeAnn knew she had a high tolerance for pain, and her gut said it wouldn't be long before the baby came.

Still, the couple listened to the doctor's orders and drove the 25 minutes back home.

"If I could do it again, I would've just sat in the waiting room and not left," Leo told WTKR. "We would've just straight-up camped."

As LeeAnn kept pacing to the bathroom, she could feel her son's head crowning. She desperately wanted to deliver with medical professionals present like she'd planned, but she couldn't hold out any longer … and into the bathtub she went.

Now the Virginia couple is sharing their story to urge other parents-to-be to be their own health advocates.
