A mother and her young son were attending a popular wildlife show in Australia. Then suddenly, a wedge-tailed eagle went a little off book. The bird flew off and, using his large talons, latched onto the 8-year-old boy's hoodie and tried to pick him as if he were a small animal.
The boy is perfectly fine and left the event with nothing but a "superficial" gash, according to the BBC, and of course a few tears from the inevitable spook! The "attack" only lasted a few seconds. The eagle wasn't trying to feast upon the boy, but park staff believe it became agitated by the sound of the boy pulling on his sweater's zipper.
"The bird then flew over the crowd and tried to grab on to a young boy's head. He screamed, the mother was distraught and the presenters wrapped up the show very quickly," Keenan Lucas, who witnessed the incident, told the BBC.
Most of the onlookers found the incident humorous, but Alice Springs Desert Park took the matter seriously. The eagle was removed from the show and will be investigated.
I am pretty sure I would have reacted exactly as the boy did: duck, cover, and cry for my mama!
