Their Son Refused To Write Santa A Letter. What He Did Instead? I’m In TEARS.

If you ask any kid what present they wish they could get from Santa Claus this Christmas the answer is probably on the tip of their tongues.

However, if you ask them what they want from their parents for Christmas, and really make them think about, the answer will probably be very different. That's the idea behind this touching ad from IKEA Spain, which challenges parents to listen to what their children really need going into the new year.

In "The Other Letter" a group of young children are asked to write letters to the Three Kings, Spain's version of St. Nicholas, in which they unsurprisingly asked for material things like toys and ridiculous things like a unicorn. Next, the young kids were asked to write a second letter, one to their parents, which caught them completely by surprise.

This is where I was both completely shocked and deeply moved. The kids didn't ask for things you can buy at Wal-Mart. Instead, they asked for their parents to spend more time with them, pay attention to them, have more family dinners and just "be present." Not surprisingly, many of the parents were moved to tears.

But here's the best part. When asked to choose between sending the letters to the Three Kings or their parents, all the kids picked the latter. We may think that we give kids everything they want or need, but there's always an opportunity to do more. Check out this moving video and remember what the holiday is TRULY about.
