Since Meghan Markle came into the family picture of the British royals, there has been a lot of nonstop drama. The drama has been increasing throughout the past few years and has only gotten worse with King Charles III taking the throne after the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
It has been reported that King Charles has a nickname for his daughter-in-law Meghan, and it’s quite fitting. Royal expert Katie Nicholl wrote in her recent book, The New Royals, “Charles reportedly nicknamed his daughter-in-law ‘Tungsten’ because of her toughness and resilience.”
If you aren’t familiar with tungsten, the Royal Society of Chemistry says that it “has the highest melting point of all metals, and is alloyed with other metals to strengthen them.”
In February 2018, months before Harry and Meghan got married in May of that year, Meghan spoke at the Royal Foundation Forum. After she did, a lot of the members of the family took notice.
Katie Nicholl also says in her book, “It was, according to one aide, the moment William and Kate, who was heavily pregnant with Prince Louis, realized they need to up their game. The Cambridges had already signaled their intention to be more than ‘Ornamental Royals’ and had, along with Harry, made a huge success of their mental health campaign heads together.”

King Charles has supposedly referred to Meghan by the name Tungsten for several years. For King Charles to come up with a nickname for his daughter-in-law shows that there was a good bond between them at one point.
The feelings between the pair haven’t been the best since Harry and Meghan decided to leave their senior royal duties and move to America. Since they left, the tension among family members has only increased, causing people to wonder if it will ever go back to the way it was.
