It’s hard not to think of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Angelina Jolie, or even Mick Jagger’s classic Rolling Stones emblem when talking about iconic lips, but did you know that there is much more to a pucker than just being pretty?
Your lips, or rather your lip print, can unveil lots of fascinating things about who you are, what you want, and what you need — much like the the shape of your nail, color of your eye, or the way you sleep at night.
Lipsology is the practice of analyzing the characteristics of a person's lips in order to discern their personality. The "art and science of reading lip prints" was devised by Jilly Eddy, after she noticed apparent "correlations between personalities and lip print characteristics."
According to her: “It can help you understand yourself and others in new ways and give you direction to act on what you learn by offering valuable insights, affirmations, and encouragement.”
If you’re curious what your lips say about you, put on your favorite shade of lipstick (or, borrow a tube from your favorite lady-friend), kiss a piece of paper or a napkin, then analyze your pucker print with our handy guide below.
Coolest part? You may be a combination of a few different lip print types…
Triangle Lip Print

A triangular lip print, in which the bottom of your lower lip is level while your upper lip pinches up to a point in the middle, means you are good at recognizing and cultivating talent in yourself and in others.
Certified Lipsologist, Anna Snodgrass, spoke to Dr. Oz online and said that those with this lip shape would do well in supportive roles like working as a teacher, coach, manager or counselor, as well as in human resources or technical support.
Diamond Lip Print

A diamond-shaped lip print, in which the lip puckers to a center point on the top and bottom lip, means that you have a dazzling personality.
According to Jilly Eddy, leading expert in lip print interpretation, and founder of Lipsology.com: "Like a diamond, these people sparkle and shine!” Diamonds are a girl’s (and guy’s) best friend, and so are people with these lips,” she tells Glo.com. “They are very successful, competent and accomplished. Whether at home or work, they take great pride in doing what ever they do well. They are wonderful mentors, actively helping others to be successful. They give generously to the community."
Flat Lip Print

This kind of print, in which their are no curves, but rather a rectangular shape, means that you are the problem solver — especially when it comes to people you are close to.
According to Snodgrass , you are typically someone’s “rock” and are a great negotiator. You are the “go-to” person to solve problems and get things worked out in the office, community, and your household.
Closed Lip Print

If your lip print is closed, this indicates that you’re stubborn. Yes it does — and stop disagreeing with me, yes it does!
Once your mind is made up, it’s set, and it’s very difficult to change. Yet, there is an upside, according to Snodgrass. You’re not someone who merely says they’re going to do something, and then forgets about it. You actually do what you say you’ll do and always finish what you start.
Open Corners

According to Snodgrass, when the corners on the sides of the lip print are not touching, this means you’re a personal bubbling with energy. You get bored easily and enjoy keeping busy.
This also makes you very curious and extremely interesting, since you’re always on the hunt for a new thing to do or learn.
Dark Saturation

If you kiss a piece of paper and its dark, you make quite an impact — just like your pucker print.
"This is a cheerleader, a 'rah, rah' person!” said Eddy.
This lip print indicates that you are someone full of energy — and everyone’s aware of it.
“Once they decide what they want to do there should be no reason why they can't succeed. They have excellent leadership qualities and are good at getting others to buy into their ideas. They usually own their own business, or at least have others working for them."
Ghost Lip Print

People with this light coloring are extremely tired and are in desperate need of a real life time-out.
This print says that the person need some alone time, where they don’t have to be deal with anyone else’s wants, needs, or desires, according to Eddy.
If this is what your print looks like, consider a vacation. Or if the idea of planning a trip exhausts you even more, take a quiet spa day where you can relax, rejuvenate, and recharge those batteries.
Overwhelmed Lip Print

When there is a dark or clear outline on a lip print, this is a signal that your public and private lives are wearing you thin.
According to Snodgrass, you have too much on your plate and need to let go of some responsibilities before moving on to another project. These overwhelming feelings can really affect your physical wellbeing as well and can lead to many types of stress-related health issues.
So correct these anxiety-inducing factors quick!
Full Upper Lip

If you have a full upper lip, listen up — it means you’re a good listener!
"The full upper says the person is a wonderful listener and people like to cry on their shoulder and tell them their problems,” Eddy said. “They are good at helping others solve their problems."
Full Lower Lip

If you have a full lower lip, you are generous and expressive person, according to Snodgrass. “You're benevolent and will give easily to others.”
You also very good at expressing yourself, and there’s a high likelihood that you’re a writer, teacher, speaker, or entertainer of some kind.
There’s also an added bonus to having a full lower lip, according to Eddy, “A full lower says that children and pets adore them.” (Extra Bonus! If the upper lip print is thin, it means that you're also picky!)
Stress Lines

Stress lines are lines are clear lines that begin on the inside of the lips, or where the lips come together, and then expand out.
Stress lines on the top inside of a lip print represent that there are things you are talking about but haven’t yet resolved.
On the other hand, stress lines on the bottom inside of a lip print expresses that there are things you are not talking about and probably should be.
And here is a fun bonus: Here is some of our staff at LittleThings posing with their own lip prints that they provided for this post!
