The three Lori brothers have every reason to smile today, something none of them have been able to do before recently. All three of Lisa Lori's sons were born with a rare condition called facial paralysis that made their life more difficult than it should ever be for a child.
From the time they were born, Lisa told TODAY that the boys couldn't close their mouths. “They had difficulty with eating and swallowing and speech," she said. Her three beautiful boys also couldn't show any kind of facial expression, including a smile. After being told by dozens of doctors that there was no hope for her sons, pediatric plastic surgeon Dr. Ronald Zuker of amazing organization Operation Smile said he could attempt to perform a surgery similar to the cleft palate surgeries the group is known for.
After a total of 8 surgeries each, the boys were finally able to communicate, go to school, and hopefully have a happy, healthy life. " I don't know what we would have done without it. It's really changed our life," said Lisa.
