Since transgender women have been allowed to compete in woman’s sports, there has been a lot of controversy about whether this is fair and should be allowed. Many people find it unfair because women have fought so hard to have their own competitive sports, and others think it’s time for more people to accept trans rights.
The New York Post shared a story about a transgender cyclist who won a female category of a gravel race. She’s receiving backlash because she posted on social media after her win about the other competitors bailing on the medal celebration.
Alongside a picture of her holding her arms up in victory, she stated, “I have no idea why so many people bailed before the podiums, but they did. I swear I wasn’t the only one in my age group.”
The two women who refused to join Lesley Mumford on the podium haven’t said anything about the incident, and people are describing it as a silent protest.
Many people commented on the incident on Twitter.
Inga Thompson tweeted: “The silent protests are starting! The women are refusing to stand on the podium with the man! Well done!!!”
Riley Gaines tweeted: “Enough is enough! Empty podium except for the male who naturally finished atop all the women in the women’s category. Despite there being a non-binary/trans category, he easily could have competed in. Keep it up, girls!” Riley ended her tweet with a #SaveWomensSports hashtag.
Megyn Kelly discussed the incident on her Sirius XM show and described Lesley as “a male sheriff’s deputy until two minutes ago. Now he says he’s Lesley Mumford and has won in the women’s race.” Megyn refuses to use Lesley’s preferred pronouns.

On her show, Megyn had Britt Mayer as a guest. Britt thinks this is proof that women are waking up and are done being polite. She also thinks that if women don’t start speaking out, these types of situations are what’s going to destroy women’s sports.
