Raven-Symoné revealed that her 38th birthday was "bittersweet" because she lost her brother, Blaize, in November. Blaize was 31 and was diagnosed with colon cancer about two years ago. "He is in a better place now," Raven said in a video shared on Instagram. "He's loved and missed and the emotions that have been weaving in and out of my body and mind and my family, have been a roller coaster."
She thanked people for their birthday wishes, but admitted that it was harder to celebrate this year. "Thank you the all the love yesterday. It was felt beyond. Hard to fully celebrate knowing that I'm here and he is not. More on Dec 16," she said.
Blaize's birthday would have been on December 16, and his family will always celebrate it on this day. "I love you, Blaize," Raven-Symoné said. "His birthday is Dec. 16 and forever will be. I love you, guys. My family on Instagram, my family at home and my family and friends. You guys have been such an amazing support system and I love you all."
On Blaize's birthday last year, Raven shared several images on Instagram of her brother and wished him a happy birthday. "To my brother @blaizewittai one of the kindest protectors I know," she wrote at the time. "More years to come for you! My love energy and hugs go to you this day! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER!"

Sabrina wrote: "I am so sorry to hear this news Raven! You were always such an awesome big sister who loved and adored her baby brother! Sending healing prayers to you and your family during this difficult time."
