I Can’t Believe They Do *This* With Watermelons In Japan! I Had No Idea!

If you're into something a little different, these Japanese farmers might have something for you!

Farmers on the island of Shikoku are growing watermelons in boxes, which force the watermelon to take on an unusual square shape. The cubed watermelons were developed by a farmer in Kagawa over 30 years ago. Unfortunately, the watermelons are harvested before they are ripe, so they are mostly inedible. Instead of eating the melons, the fruits are popular as gift items for decoration.
