Tami Peterson, a mom from California, brought her three sons to a local park. She usually brings her son there and allows them run around barefoot and play. But while they were riding their bikes, Peterson noticed something terrifying…
"There were kids running without shoes. I was watching my kids ride their bikes on the trail when we saw some shiny gold tacks. I saw at least 50 of them; almost all of them were pointing up," Peterson told 10 News' Michael Chen.
The tacks were each facing up and hidden under large leaves. She believes they were put there to purposefully hurt children.
"The way they were placed, I feel they were put out intentionally," said Peterson. "I fear that somebody was out to hurt little kids."
Peterson rightfully took a photo and brought it to the parks department. There had recently been reports of someone leaving razor blades in the park. Thankfully, this mother spotted the thumbtacks before anyone got hurt.
"I'd like to bring my kids and feel safe, and now that I found all of these things, I don't," said Peterson.
Peterson is now warning other parents to be watchful of their child's surroundings — you never know what could be hidden in plain sight.
