Every mother's worst nightmare needs a miracle.
Turan Caudle, 17 years old, and a friend went over to fellow football teammate, 16-year-old Delano Dunmore's house to play video games.
After a petty squabble over the video game — nothing unusual for a group of teenage boys — Delano shot Caudle in the back of his head.
The bullet that went through Caudle's head hit their friend. Then Delano turned the gun on himself.
The three teenagers each survived, but things looked bleak for Turan.
Doctors were forced to remove half of Turan's skull. “He was in ICU,” his mother, Sherita Caudle, told NBC News. “The doctors said he wouldn't make it through that night. If he did make it, he wouldn't be able to walk and talk.”
In times of difficulty, people often turn to higher powers for help and strength. When Grayson Kirby's doctors told him he only had a 5 percent chance of surviving a car crash, he prayed.
Sherita Caudle did the same and believes her prayers have been answered.
Though Delano was awaiting trial as an adult for attempted murder, Sherita is disappointed that the charges have been reduced to assault. After a shooting and a "slap-on-the-wrist" charge, Sherita still refers to the events that took place after the shooting as a miracle.
"Turan is living proof that god can work miracles!! We are so gracious for the support and prayer! We still have a long road a head but we are so thankful for what god has done so far!" Sherita wrote on a Facebook page, Prayers For Turan, started to support Turan's recovery.
