Celebrities are often made up to be so flawless, we tend to forget they're human. Photoshop, makeup, and a team of professionals are constantly available to help protect the images of our favorite stars. But the reality is that even the most famous people are still people, and as such, they have moments that they aren't exactly proud of, just like us.
Most of us are pretty lucky that our most embarrassing moments weren't seen by thousands, or even millions of people. When you're a celebrity, though, the media eats up everything you do…even if it's not something you want the world to see. It's no wonder these once-famous stars have gone under the radar — I couldn't imagine living under all that stress!
I don't know about you, but I'm sure glad that all the mortifying stuff I've done in my life has only been seen by a select few people. Can you imagine how awkward it would be to slip and fall in front of a massive national audience, or have your awkward high school photos revealed like these celebrities did? Just the thought of it makes me shudder!

1. When Ashlee Simpson was caught lip-syncing on live TV
When Simpson went on stage on Saturday Night Live to perform her hit single "Pieces of Me" in 2004, a technical malfunction occurred that pretty much caused the downfall of her career as a singer. Someone working the sound accidentally played the artist's vocal track too early, revealing that she was actually intended to lip-sync her entire performance. Simpson awkwardly danced off stage, leaving her band to play the instrumentals of the song until the camera finally cut away from the extremely cringeworthy moment.
2. When Fergie peed her pants onstage
When you gotta go, you gotta go. In 2005, pop star Fergie didn't have time to use the restroom before her show. The result was her peeing her pants in front of her entire audience. The singer continued to perform like nothing had happened, but there's no doubt that she was pretty humiliated by the incident.
3. When Justin Bieber threw up on stage
During his Believe Tour, the Biebs appeared to have let his intense dance moves get the better of him. During a performance of "Out of Town Girl" in Arizona, the singer had to stop performing to puke all over the stage. He then ran offstage for the remainder of the song, leaving his backup dancers and singers to finish the tune alone.
4. When Zac Efron dropped a condom on the red carpet
While at the premier of The Lorax, Zac Efron reached into his pocket on the red carpet , accidentally causing a condom to fall out in full view of everyone in attendance. He quickly reached down to grab it, but the damage was done. He says he now has a pocket-checking policy before every red carpet appearance, but personally, I think it's great to know that this actor likes to play it safe.
5. When Beyoncé got her hair stuck in a fan
During a performance of her song "Halo" in Orlando, Beyoncé moved to the front of the stage to get up close and personal with her fans…and ended up getting up close and personal with a different kind of fan. Her hair got sucked into one of the high-powered fans on the stage, leaving her helpless until her handlers could get her out. But Bey didn't miss a beat and kept on singing throughout the entire ordeal.
6. When Jennifer Lawrence fell at the Oscars
When Jennifer Lawrence went up to accept her Academy Award for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, she learned the hard way that it's hard to get up those stairs while wearing a massive dress. She tripped and fell on her way up to the stage, and even though she was thoroughly embarrassed, she managed to laugh off the misstep during her acceptance speech.
7. When Sofia Vergara's dress tore at the Emmys
While on the red carpet for the 2012 Emmy Awards, Sofia Vergara had a major wardrobe malfunction when her dress split right down the back and revealed her rear end to the world. The Modern Family actress was obviously embarrassed, but ultimately laughed the moment off and continued to enjoy the awards show after her gown had been stitched up.
8. When John Travolta butchered Idina Menzel's name
The first rule of presenting a performer at an awards show is to know how to pronounce their name, and John Travolta learned that the hard way when he introduced "Let It Go" singer Idina Menzel at the 2014 Oscars. Having never previously heard her name and struggling to read the teleprompter, Travolta welcomed "Adele Nazeem" onstage. It wasn't even close! The actor was ridiculed for his mispronunciation for weeks, but both he and Menzel were good sports about the whole thing.
9. When Christina Aguilera flubbed the lyrics to the National Anthem
Being asked to sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl is a huge honor, but also pretty stressful no matter how talented you are. Maybe that's why pop star Christina Aguilera accidentally mixed up the lyrics to the song, repeating some of the words before realizing her mistake and continuing with the Anthem as it was meant to be sung. It was a small mistake ("What so proudly" instead of "O'er the ramparts"), but it was enough to provide plenty of fodder for entertainment outlets to bash on the accomplished singer.
10. When Axl Rose fell and forgot his own lyrics
During a tour in France, the Guns 'N Roses singer accidentally took a fall on stage. Then, to make matters worse, he forgot the lyrics to his most famous song, "Sweet Child O' Mine." That's a slip-up that's pretty hard to miss!
11. When 50 Cent threw an awful first pitch
50 Cent is a pretty athletic-looking guy, so you'd expect him to have a decent first pitch at a Mets vs. Pirates game. Nope. The rapper threw the ball so far out of the way, you almost have to wonder if he knew where the catcher was. He laughed at his own bad pitch, so at least we know this celeb can poke fun at himself.
12. When Katy Perry faceplanted into a cake, then slipped and fell in it
During a performance of her first hit single, "I Kissed A Girl," Katy Perry decided to jump into a giant cake at the MTV Latin America Awards. Not only was the cake harder than expected, leading Perry to smack it with her face and awkwardly bounce off, but she then slipped on the frosting and fell once she was back on her feet. Oops!
