Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are a famously private couple. They share two daughters, Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7. On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Eva appeared on Today to give a rare look at their family life.
Eva stopped taking on acting roles when her daughters were born. It is important to her and Ryan that someone is always around for the kids. Eva was happy to take on the new role.
“It was almost just like a non-verbal agreement that it was like, ‘OK, he’s going to work and I’m going to work, I’m just going to work here,'” Eva explained. She considers herself “lucky” to be able to spend this time with her kids.
“I still worked, I just didn’t act because acting takes you on locations, it takes you away,” Eva clarified. Eva’s last acting role was in the 2012 film The Place Beyond the Pines. This was where she met Ryan.

Eva and Ryan fell in love while working together. Eva was in awe of Ryan’s work ethic. “I have never experienced anything like that. The way he works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best as it can be, and that means making his co-stars as best as they can be,” she gushed. “But unfortunately — or fortunately — there is only one Ryan!”
