A city parks worker in Brooklyn, New York, made a grim discovery on Monday, August 19, 2024, when they stumbled upon human skeletal remains near a famed NYC landmark. Around 8:50 a.m., the worker found the human remains near Jane's Carousel in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Included in the remains were a skull wrapped in clothing and a pair of boots discovered nearby, according to the New York Post. The remains, which were found at 55 Water Street, appeared to have washed up on shore.

According to PIX11, a Citizen App video showed the area taped off and NYPD officers talking to some people on the waterfront. An NYPD boat was also on the water, as scuba divers were searching for other possible remains.
"This is Dumbo Park, I don't understand why this would be a dumping place," one Brooklyn resident told News 12 Brooklyn. "And I'm happy I didn't have my son with me." Medical examiners were also on scene examining the rocks to gather any information they could.

The discovery comes less than 24 hours after a man's body was pulled from the water by officers off Red Hook in Brooklyn, per the New York Post. The body is believed to be that of a man in his 30s. Both cases are currently under investigation.
