RFK Jr.’s Siblings Call Their Brother’s Endorsement Of Trump ‘A Sad Ending To A Sad Story’

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has suspended his presidential campaign and endorsed Donald Trump, and his siblings do not approve. In a statement, the former presidential candidate's siblings called their brother's endorsement a "betrayal." "We want an America filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision of a brighter future, a future defined by individual freedom, economic promise and national pride," the statement from Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Courtney Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, and Rory Kennedy read.

It is not the first time RFK Jr.'s siblings have distanced themselves from him. Some of his siblings also shared a statement when RFK Jr. announced that he would be running for president as an independent candidate.

At the time, they called his decision "dangerous to our country." The siblings, Rory Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, Hon. Joseph P Kennedy II, and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, also commented on how Bobby's values do not reflect those of the Kennedy family.

"Bobby might share the same name as our father, but he does not share the same values, vision or judgment," that statement read. "Today's announcement is deeply saddening for us. We denounce his candidacy and believe it to be perilous for our country."

Similarly, in their recent statement, some of RFK Jr.'s siblings reflected on how their brother's values are not in line with the Kennedy family's beliefs.

Kathleen, Courtney, Kerry, Chris, and Rory made it clear that they would support Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the upcoming election, and they do not agree with their brother's decision to support Donald Trump and J.D. Vance.

"We believe in Harris and Walz," their statement read. "Our brother Bobby's decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear."

They called it "a sad ending to a sad story."

Another one of RFK Jr.'s siblings, Max Kennedy, spoke out against his brother's decision to endorse Donald Trump, calling it heartbreaking.

"I’m heartbroken over my brother Bobby’s endorsement of Donald Trump," Max wrote in a piece for the Los Angeles Times.

Max wrote about how he's unsure about how his father, Robert F. Kennedy, would've felt about some topics that are relevant today, like artificial intelligence, but he is sure about one thing.

"I think often about my father and how he might have viewed the politics of our time," he wrote. "I’m not sure what he would have thought about TikTok or AI, but this much I know for sure: He would have despised Donald Trump."

To Max, RFK Jr.'s decision to endorse Donald Trump is "inconceivable." In the article, he pointed out several stark differences between his father's values and Donald Trump's values.

For one, Robert F. Kennedy was "an anti-racist." In contrast, Donald Trump is "a lifelong racist," Max wrote.

He also pointed to the way his father supported immigration, wanted to bring people together, and believed in protecting our environment.

"It feels especially hypocritical that Bobby, a genuine environmentalist, has thrown in with the most anti-environmental president in our history," Max wrote.

"I love Bobby. But I hate what he is doing to our country," he continued, adding that although he never imagined that he would have to write something like this, he believes that those who wish to honor RFK should not listen to RFK Jr.

"With a heavy heart, I am today asking my fellow Americans to do what will honor our father the most: Ignore Bobby and support Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic platform," he wrote.
