On January 1, 2025, Zachery Ty Bryan was arrested and charged with second-degree domestic violence in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The former child actor, now 43, is best known for portraying one of Tim Allen’s sons on Home Improvement. Since his most recent arrest, more details have come to light. On January 4, TMZ reported that Bryan allegedly punched a woman multiple times.
Additionally, the woman said Bryan choked her and threatened to kill her, TMZ reported. Per the outlet, Bryan and the woman share a child. This is not the first time Bryan has been arrested for alleged domestic violence.
Bryan’s first arrest on domestic violence charges occurred in 2020, according to The Hollywood Reporter. At the time, he was arrested on strangulation and assault charges in Oregon.
In July 2023, he faced fourth-degree felony assault, third-degree robbery and harassment charges, per People. After pleading guilty to “felony assault in the fourth degree constituting domestic violence,” he spent a week in jail and served 36 months of supervised probation.

His most recent arrest is his third arrest in the past year, Entertainment Weekly reported. In October 2024, he was arrested on DUI charges. He was also arrested for driving under the influence in February 2024. Per the news outlet, this time, Bryan was booked into Horry County jail in South Carolina.
He was reportedly being held on $10,000 bond and was released on Friday, January 3, according to multiple outlets.
In 2023, Bryan’s former TV dad Tim Allen spoke up about Bryan’s recent arrests. “At a certain point, he deviated from the guy I know to somebody who is reacting to situations that I had nothing to do with and can’t control,” Allen told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “I don’t know what happens when people get corrupted.”
Referring to Bryan as a “great kid” who became a “complex man,” Allen said, “All you can do is step aside and let somebody go through their process.” Previously, Bryan addressed his 2020 domestic violence charges, claiming they “got so blown out of proportion.” At the time, a woman accused him of pulling her hair, choking her, and punching her. Bryan dismissed the allegations.
“We didn’t even really get that physical. We got really loud. We were screaming and because we were in a townhome that had [thin walls], everybody could hear,” Bryan previously told The Hollywood Reporter.
