A Reporter Told Elon Musk’s Estranged Trans Daughter That Her Dad Is ‘The Best’ — She Had One Response

An interaction between a reporter and Vivian Wilson has gone viral on social media because the reporter really had the audacity to tell Vivian that her dad, Elon Musk, is “the best” when he has continually misgendered her and insisted that she’s been affected by the “woke mind virus.” By many accounts, he’s not exactly father of the year (The mothers of some of his other children have complained about his uninvolved parenting before).

In Vivian’s case, he has repeatedly used his platform to make transphobic comments about her. Vivian is estranged from him. So, when a reporter at a Desigual Vintage event in Spain tried to praise Elon, she left.

At first, she seemed confused by what the reporter was asking.

Can you blame her? Footage from the event shows a reporter speaking to Vivian and saying, “Your father the best, no?” She responded, “My what? Sorry?”

The reporter reiterated, “The best, your father.” Once Vivian understood what the reporter was saying, she didn’t say anything other than “OK” before walking away.

The footage is circulating on social media, and people can definitely understand why Vivian reacted the way that she did. For one, some people think the reporter was just trying to provoke her. Of course she doesn’t think her dad is “the best.” He has deadnamed her, bashed her online, and said that he hopes she “recovers” from “a tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus.”

A lot of people think she actually handled the situation well.

Reacting to a clip on Instagram, people called the reporter “disrespectful” for speaking to Vivian like that, and they loved how she just walked away instead of reacting. Many also assumed that the reporter had bad intentions. “It is well known how she feels about Elon Musk,” one person commented. “Why would anyone do this other than to be mean?”

Someone else said Vivian had the “correct response” and “handled it more maturely than I would have.” Another commenter added, “I love that she didn’t give them a reaction, she just walked away. Good for her.”

The reporter’s question seemed so inappropriate that many found it really troubling. “Why ask her about her personal life when they know it’s an uncomfortable topic for her?” someone wrote on X. “Just stop harassing the poor woman and let her live her life on her own terms.”

Elon recently suggested that he got involved in right-wing politics because of Vivian.

Vivian is a model for Rihanna’s Fenty Pride campaign this year. On X, someone replied to this announcement by saying that Elon got involved in politics because he has a trans daughter.

“We should never forget that if not for Vivian, Elon Musk never would have gotten involved, never would have purchased Twitter, Kamala Harris would be President and the Left-wing would have total instrumental control over the construction of Skynet,” the post read.

Elon seemed to confirm this because he re-shared the post and wrote, “True.” Previously, he also suggested that his transphobia motivated him to fight for custody of the child he welcomed with Ashley St. Clair, a former right-wing influencer turned MAGA critic.

In January, after Ashley said she felt “immense guilt” over her transphobic rhetoric, Elon suddenly said he would file for full custody of their child after previously claiming he didn’t know if the child was his. Ashley also noted that she felt “even more guilt that things I have said in the past may have caused my son’s sister (Vivian) more pain.”

Meanwhile, Elon wrote, “I will be filing for full custody today, given (Ashley’s) statements implying she might transition a one-year-old boy.” In case it wasn’t already clear, Ashley did not imply this.
