There is little chance of Erika Kirk and Karoline Leavitt being besties any time soon, but they have spoken together publicly, and they run in the same circles. As in, the MAGA circle, as close to Donald Trump as they can each possibly get. So when Trump announced Leavitt’s impending exit from the White House, Kirk seized the opportunity to make a post about it on X (formerly Twitter) and gas up the press secretary.
The only problem was, as soon as she did, haters came for Kirk and called her out for what they believe to be her own shortcomings. Even if those shortcomings have nothing to do with Leavitt at all. The idea here seems to be that Kirk put herself in this situation by speaking on Leavitt’s departure, and now, she has to deal with the fallout of new criticisms of her.

In Kirk’s post about Leavitt, she wrote that the press secretary “brought tenacity, grace, and the joy of the Lord when she walked into that briefing room every day.” She also commended Leavitt for knowing that she wanted to step down from her role to focus on her family and for recognizing the “season” she is in.
“Family always comes first. There is wisdom and strength in knowing what season God is calling you into and having the courage to follow it,” Kirk wrote. “Karoline, thank you for your service to
@POTUS and our country, and for being such a powerful example to the young people watching you. Your family is blessed to have you and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for you next.”
And that’s all well and good. However, Kirk has enough enemies and critics that it probably didn’t do her any favors to gas up Leavitt, who has a growing list of haters herself.
But people called Erika Kirk a “bad Christian” and used the opportunity to troll her.
In the comments under the X post, those who already can’t stand both Kirk and Leavitt commented to condemn Kirk’s support for Leavitt. Others wrote that they believe Kirk knew the backlash or, at least, the amount of attention, she would get after sharing the post about the soon-to-be former press secretary.
“You had to know how everyone would react when you posted this,” someone commented. “You pretend not to know or care what people say or think, but you bring it up a lot so we know you know. At this point, I think you are just rage baiting people so you can get the mean comments to feed your ego.”
Then, there are those who lashed out at Kirk herself after she shared the post.
“She’s a Fake Christian like you and your dead husband,” someone replied to the X post. “So no wonder you get along so well.”
Another person advised, “You should follow her steps and be with the kids.”
Some conspiracy theorists think Erika Kirk was groomed to take over for Karoline Leavitt.
If there is another takeaway from the X post, it probably isn’t that Kirk is admitting that she plans to take over as press secretary. That’s what some people think might happen, though, even if they’ve joked about it.
When someone commented on a Reddit post to ask who could be worse than Leavitt in Trump’s choice to fill the seat, another person wrote, “Erika Kirk.”
In the same thread, another user commented, “Oh God it’s gonna be Erika Kirk or Laura Loomer isn’t it?”
Sometimes, those sorts of jokes can become self-fulfilling prophecies, so be careful what you wish for (or joke about) when it comes to MAGA.
