Rosie O’Donnell and President Donald Trump’s feud is still very much ongoing, and you might even say it escalated when O’Donnell guest-hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live. Unsurprisingly, O’Donnell saw the temporary gig as another opportunity to criticize and poke fun at Trump. She even addressed him directly, letting him know that she knew he was tuning in.
Trump and those in his circle did not take the criticism well. In a statement, the White House lashed out at O’Donnell after her time on the show came to a close.
The White House called O’Donnell “a nasty woman.”
Trump and officials in his administration regularly respond to negative comments that celebrities make. It’s not clear whether they’re trying to come across as unbothered by the criticism, but responding to it in the way that they do often has the opposite effect. Instead of simply saying nothing about O’Donnell’s comments, the White House resorted to insulting her.
In a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, Davis Ingle, a White House representative, claimed that O’Donnell’s criticism was the result of “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” or “TDS.” Trump himself has also accused O’Donnell of suffering from “TDS.”
“Rosie O’Donnell is a nasty woman and a total slob whose brain has been completely destroyed by Trump Derangement Syndrome,” Ingle wrote after O’Donnell hosted the show. Which kind of makes it sound like O’Donnell’s comments got to Trump.
O’Donnell also responded to this.
She has spoken about how Trump’s relentless bullying has affected her. Their feud started long before Trump pursued politics. His attacks and insults were bad enough before he became president, but now the power that he has makes it even worse. Trump has even threatened to revoke O’Donnell’s citizenship because she speaks out against him. She currently lives in Ireland.
However, none of this has stopped O’Donnell from sharing how she really feels. Clearly. She regularly bashes the president on social media and criticizes him during interviews. She has even said that she feels like she’s famous again because of Trump.
So, she addressed the “slob” accusations via a succinct Instagram post. She posted a less-than-flattering image of Trump and captioned it with, “This is the guy calling me a slob #mirrormirror.”
And, of course, she had a lot to say about him on the show as well.
During her last night on the show, O’Donnell took some time to thank “everyone who’s been watching this week, especially the hungry, hungry hypocrite in the White House.” In addition to calling him “the hungry, hungry hypocrite,” O’Donnell referred to Trump as “Orange Voldemort” and “Mango Mussolini.”
She also performed a song in which she called for his resignation. “Poor Donny boy your polls, your polls are falling,” she sand in part. “Your reflecting pool is green as Mountain Dew. Your wig’s a mess, your ballroom is appalling, and with Iran you’ve bit off more than you can chew…But there’s a way to end this drama. It’s time to use that stable-genius brain. Since we all know you’ll never be Obama, why not resign, and make this country great again?”
Additionally, she told the president that he made her famous again. “You brought me back, just like you did with fascism and the measles,” she said one night.
