In a photo that FBI Director Kash Patel posted on social media of himself with some soldiers that others quickly shared, he exhibited a rare sense of self-awareness. There are plenty of things that people outside of MAGA could make fun of MAGA for, and now, when it comes to Patel, you can add his height to that running list. The photo shows Patel standing up on some steps so his height is in line with the soldiers and it’s almost endearing for Trump’s close personal colleague. Almost.
Because after the photo made the rounds on social media, Critics quickly trolled Patel for his height, his short king status, and how, it seems, he is well aware of how average he is in height. And there’s nothing wrong with that. But when you have a politician with a frat boy mentality, those who oppose him really have no choice but to mercilessly point out what they believe to be his own lies about his appearance.

In the photo, Patel stands with soldiers and other FBI officials. But the kicker is that Patel is standing up on some steps behind them, presumably to appear taller than he is. The user who posted it wrote, “Pure 5’4″ energy, truly.” Is that really the photo that Patel posted, though? Over on his official account on X, Patel is with the same officials, but standing side by side rather than up on steps behind them. Still, people think the shared photo is the real representation of his actual height and that the one he posted is edited as well.
One user commented, “That turns into 6’4″ energy when drinking.”
Another person who is sure the photo is real wrote, “Jesus Christ! How can someone this insecure be put in charge of anything? You can’t parody this level of lack of self-awareness…”
If you Google Patel’s height, the internet lists it as 5’9″. However, not many people actually believe that. Also, FIFA president Gianni Infantino is believed to be 6 feet tall, and Patel is well below his height, as seen in photos. Thanks to numerous photos where he has been next to taller individuals, and athletes, there is the growing theory that Patel is much shorter than he lets on. Hence, the photo of him with other FBI officials that may or may not be doctored.

Almost immediately after that photo was posted on X, users shared memes depicting him as comically shorter than most people. One meme shows the director of the FBI as Tinker Bell. Another has him in full elf costume. Someone also edited the photo to make Patel appear as himself, but a few feet shorter than he already is.
And to be fair, no one thinks there is anything wrong with being 5’4″ if that’s the case for Patel. The issue that many have is how he does his job and how he spends taxpayers’ money. So if he also happens to be lying about his height, regardless of the lack of confirmation, critics have used it against him.
One user commented on a Reddit thread about Patel’s height, “Hey, bro! There’s nothing wrong with being 5’9″. There is, however, something very very wrong with being a complete douchebag.”

If Patel wasn’t often seen having excessive celebrations with sports teams or Olympians and appeared to take his job more seriously, he might not be the subject of internet memes and conspiracies. And again, there is nothing wrong with any specific height a person might be.
But the issue many see with Patel is that he is lying and thus, insecure about his alleged true height. Pair that with his penchant for drinking that many believe to be true, and he sort of sets himself up for this.
