Kate Hudson & Hugh Jackman Called ‘Monsters’ By Real-Life Son Of ‘Song Sung Blue’ Musician

Some people are loving the film Song Sung Blue, but the son of one of the people it portrays is not one of them. Song Sung Blue, which came out in December 2025, is a biographical musical drama that follows musicians and real-life couple Claire “Thunder” and the late Mike “Lightning” Sardina. The couple performed together in “Lightning & Thunder,” a Neil Diamond tribute band. So, in theory, it’s meant to portray a true story — but the couple’s loved ones say it’s far from a realistic depiction of their family.

Unfortunately, Mike’s son, Michael ‘Mike’ Sardina Jr., hates the movie, according to a recent interview with the Daily Mail. He accused the film of destroying his dad’s legacy, and also portraying his family’s story in an inaccurate way. According to Mike Jr., Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman, the actors who portray Claire and Mike are “monsters.”

Mike Jr. said his father is “rolling in his grave right now.”

Because although the movie is touching, it’s not accurate, according to Mike’s son. “Everybody thinks it’s such a wonderful film, it’s so touching,” he told the Daily Mail. “It’s all lies.” Mike Jr. and his sister, Angelina, critiqued the film’s rosy portrayal of a more complicated family dynamic. “It’s a beautiful story, but that’s not how it went down,” Angelina told the publication. “And I guess that’s what’s upsetting — because it’s a lie.”

The siblings feel that the actors in the movie could’ve reached out to them to get more information, but they reportedly did not. Angelina told the publication that she “didn’t have any contact with King Princess, who played me,” and “didn’t have any contact with Kate Hudson or Hugh Jackman, anyone from the cast.”

Meanwhile, Mike Jr. believes he was “purposely cut out of the film” entirely.

Mike’s kids were invited to the premiere.

However, Mike Jr. alleges that he was told to “keep away from any of the stars and reporters.” That didn’t stop him from approaching Kate Hudson. Though he “walked right up to” her and introduced himself, Kate and Hugh have reportedly not mentioned him at all while promoting the film.

“Every interview that those monsters have been on national television don’t even mention my existence at all,” he said, adding that the actors “didn’t even try to contact” to contact him for more information. Maybe if the actors had reached out to him, he speculated, they would’ve known that his father “would speak in a very, very slow kind of way,” among other important details.

Though Mike Jr. has a multitude of issues with the way the film portrayed his father, his sister said that, at the very least, the film’s love story is accurate. “The only thing that was true is the love between my dad and Claire,” she said.
