In September 2018, model and pageant winner Veronika Didusenko was crowned Miss Ukraine. Not only did the judges fall in love with Veronika's appearance and personality, but they were also impressed by her charity work. She was so excited to have the opportunity to go on and represent her country at the UK-based Miss World competition.
However, just hours after handing her the crown, Miss Ukraine producers disqualified Veronika from competing in Miss World — and stripped her of her title altogether.
Miss World does not allow contestants who have children and/or have ever been married. Apparently, holding the title is too "demanding" to allow for these things.
Before entering the Miss Ukraine competition, Veronika signed an agreement stating she had never been married and did not have any children … but that was not the truth.
Veronika is a actually divorcée and has a 5-year-old son, but she insists the rules are unfair, discriminatory, and "so archaic, so outdated, so old-fashioned."
Veronika doesn't want her crown. Instead, she's fighting back — and now has a band of supporters behind her.
