When the Wildlife Alliance found Chhouk the elephant in Cambodia's Mondulkiri Province, he was nearly dead. Orphaned, emaciated and having lost one of his legs in a poacher's snare, doctors weren't sure if he would make it – but they were determined to give him a fighting chance by nursing him back to health. Not only that, but they built and customized for Chhouk a brand new leg! I've never before seen an elephant with a prosthetic limb, but there's a first for everything. It doesn't seem to slow him down one bit! Now Chhouk spends his days taking long walks in the forest, swimming in pools and playing with his adopted sister, Lucky. I'd give anything to go on one of those walks with him!
