The world of crime and punishment has long held a morbid fascination for society. In the annals of criminal history, there are those who, despite their notoriety, meet their ultimate fate within the confines of prison walls. These individuals, once the subjects of headline news, eventually faded from public consciousness.
To start it off strong, Charles Manson died from natural causes in 2017. After he passed away, no one wanted the body, and he had no known next of kin to claim him. Anthony DiMaria, the nephew of Jay Sebring, who was a well-known stylist and was a victim of the members of the Manson family, gave a statement to Inside Edition about his family’s thoughts and feelings after Manson's death.
“Our thoughts are always as they have been over the years and at the parole hearings with the victims, so our family derives no joy or closure you know, from Mr. Manson’s passing or any ill fate of any of the killers.” Manson was denied parole 12 times when he was in prison and died at the age of 83.
Next on the list is Peter Sutcliffe who was known as the Yorkshire Ripper. Sutcliffe died in an English prison in 2020 at 74, after getting COVID-19. He was serving a life sentence after being convicted of murdering 13 women and attempting to murder seven other women. Sutcliffe was the main cause of terror in Northern England from 1975 to 1980.
Robert Durst, who was a real estate heir, died in 2022 at the age of 78, of natural causes from various medical issues. Durst was serving a life sentence after being found guilty of first-degree murder after he shot his friend Susan Berman in 2000.

Infamous mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger was killed in prison. Inside Edition reported, “It happened the same day the 89-year-old was transferred to a federal penitentiary in West Virginia.” Bulger was the leader of the Winter Hill Gang in the Winter Hill neighborhood of Somerville, Massachusetts. Bulger ranked No. 2 on the FBI’s most wanted list after Osama Bin Laden.
