Todd And Julie Chrisley Reacted Completely Differently When They Learned About Trump Pardon

When Todd and Julie Chrisley found out they had been pardoned by Donald Trump, they couldn’t believe it. The Chrisley Knows Best stars both served two years of their prison sentences for bank and tax fraud convictions. President Donald Trump pardoned them on May 28, 2025.

On June 28, 2025, Todd and Julie will appear on Fox News Channel’s My View with Lara Trump. It will be their first interview since their release from prison. According to an early excerpt shared with LittleThings.com, Julie started crying when she received the pardon news.

“I called Savannah one more time. And she said, he did it, he signed it,” Julie recalled. “And I just started busting out crying, and everyone was looking around … then I just hung up. I was so nervous, I just hung up.” When people saw her cry, they didn’t know how to react.

“Everybody was just looking at me because unfortunately, most of the news that you get in prison is bad news,” Julie continued. “You know, so they’re like, are you OK? I’m like, I am. I’m getting out of here.”

Meanwhile, Todd said a correctional officer shared the news with him. “He said, ‘Todd, you just got pardoned. They sent me down here to make sure you’re OK,'” Todd recalled. “And I said, ‘Well, they don’t need to be worrying about me now. Hell, if I’m pardoned, I’m great.’”

According to the early excerpt, Todd and Julie will also speak about the first time they saw each other after leaving prison during the interview with Lara Trump. Julie explained that their reunion was “surreal,” but not “weird” or “awkward.” Todd said he “thought of [Julie] every second of my day” while in prison.

He admitted that they have both changed. Previously, during a May press conference, Todd said prison exposed him to “some horrific stories about things that have gone on in our system.” He described some of the injustices he witnessed. “Being in the prison system, anyone that says that it’s a fair shake, it’s not,” Todd said at the time. “Because I dealt with young African American males in the prison that I was in that were not treated the same.”

When speaking to Lara Trump, Todd said he met some people in prison who “deserve a second chance.”

“You know, you’ve got kids in prison for selling marijuana,” Todd told Lara. “But now it’s almost legalized everywhere. Yet we don’t make that retroactive for these young men. These young men still have a chance. They’re in their 20s, 30, 33 years old. Let them come home. Let them get on a job. Let them pay taxes. And if they mess up again, well, listen, the prison doors are wide open.”

Similarly, Julie said she made a 77-year-old friend in prison who “could be any of our grandmothers” and is “the best lady that you would ever, ever meet.”

Todd and Julie’s full interview will air on Saturday, June 28 at 9 p.m. ET on Fox News Channel’s My View with Lara Trump.
