Divorces are never easy. If you are in a high-profile relationship, there are often prenuptial agreements to provide clarity when separating, but things can still get muddy and even contentious. It appears that this may be the case in Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner’s divorce.
TMZ is reporting that Christine is refusing to leave the couple’s residence even though it is explicitly stated in the couple’s prenuptial agreement that she is required to. Kevin’s team also alleges that Christine is using her position at the house to make financial demands. Kevin is asking for the court’s help in getting his soon-to-be ex-wife out of the house.
Christine is the one who wanted this divorce and initiated it. She filed on May 1 of this year. According to the couple’s prenuptial agreement, she had 30 days to move out and has failed to do so.
Kevin claims she is even asking for more money. He has allegedly already given her over $1.2 million as required by their agreement. She should not need more than this to move.

According to court documents, Kevin is willing to give Christine even more money. He would “contribute as part of his child support obligations $30K per month for a rental house and is willing to advance another $10K for her moving costs.” He just wants her out of the house.
Before Christine filed for divorce, the couple had been married for 18 years. Christine cited “irreconcilable differences” as her reason. She did not ask for spousal support but did ask for joint custody of their three children.
Kevin and Christine first met in the '90s at a golf course where Kevin was practicing for his role in Tin Cup. They would not start dating until 1999. They broke up briefly in 2003 but got back together and married in 2004.
Their son Caden was born in 2007. Hayes followed Caden in 2009. Their daughter, Grace, completed their family in 2010.
Kevin also requested joint custody of Caden, Hayes, and Grace. Kevin did not want this divorce. “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” his representatives stated on his behalf.
When news of the divorce broke, many speculated as to why. Because of Kevin's previous behavior, some even believed Kevin might have cheated. A source close to the actor shut down this rumor. “There was no issue of cheating at all,” they told Page Six.
