Fat shaming is not an appealing character trait. Unfortunately, there are more people who shame other people for their weight out there than we think. The New York Post posted a video of a man who is an unapologetic fat shamer debating with a plus-sized model.
The man goes by David, and he is from Brooklyn, New York, and Elise is from St. James, New York. Elise is a plus-sized model, actor, and filmmaker. At the beginning of the video, the two are separate, stating their reasons behind their opinions.
I quickly found myself not particularly liking David. He himself is not in the best physical health, and on top of that, he is balding. Yet he states, “I will not date a morbidly obese or obese woman, just won’t do it. One thing women say to me is well, look in the mirror or look at you, you’re bald. I’m not talking about me, I’m talking about ya know, obese women.”
When these two meet, they shake hands politely, but things take a turn very quickly. David is known for not being afraid to post online about his opinions on obese women. Hearing him speak about his preferences is also not very appealing.
After Elise says, “So I heard you are pretty vocal online.” David goes full force defending his reasoning behind why he feels the need to go above and beyond about his preferences for women. The way he describes obese women made me cringe.
“I’m talking about a woman who’s just got a, no offense, but a big carcass and they got cellulite sticking out,” he says. “It’s, like, disgusting, in my opinion.”

After almost every statement he makes, David feels the need to say “no offense” to Elise even though every single thing that comes out of his mouth is extremely offensive. Throughout the beginning of their discussion, Elise is extremely classy and stays very calm and collected.
David goes on to say that he feels as though obesity is a mental disorder rather than a medical condition. Elise then explains to him about food addiction, what it can entail, and its effects on some people. Throughout their interaction with each other, you can clearly tell by David’s sly smiles and expressions that he isn’t learning very much.
